Promoting Heritage Diplomacy: Access to Underwater Cultural Heritage through Digital Communication Technologies

Protecting and promoting the underwater cultural heritage in situ should have an important role in the management of the foreign affairs of the states. Underwater cultural heritage, especially with shipwrecks, shows how states and civilizations interacted with each other in the historical process. In this sense, underwater archeology provides information about the commercial, cultural, social and political exchanges between civilizations and states in the past. This study explains the importance of increasing public access to underwater cultural heritage through digital communication technologies for promoting heritage diplomacy between states in the age of digital communication.
